Dear Families,
Thank you to all our parents and carers, students and teachers for your participation in our recent opportunity for Communicating Learning Progress with families. Kindergarten Parent Teacher Meetings and Prep to Year 6 Mid-year Learning Conversations (involving our students) were extremely well attended, with 96% of our students represented. This is an excellent result and the feedback we have received from students, families and teachers has once again been extremely positive.
Kindergarten Parent Teacher meetings involved discussions in relation to progress students were making towards mastering the markers on the Kindergarten Development Check in the areas of thinking, literacy and numeracy, and health and wellbeing. The opportunity was also taken to share evidence of their learning and to celebrate their achievements.
Prep to Year 6 Mid-year Learning Conversations focused on progress, achievement, future goals and strategies to support improvement. Our students were so happy to be part of this experience and extremely proud of the learning they were able to share with their families.
Our staff strongly value family engagement in student learning and were very pleased to have had another opportunity to strengthen our relationship with parents and carers. Please know that appointments can be made with teachers at any time of the year to discuss your child’s learning and wellbeing.
Finally best wishes to our whole school community for a wonderful school holiday break. I hope you have time to have fun and recharge ready for Term 3.

Congratulations to Cherie Partridge and her volunteer tutors for their amazing work with ‘The Buzz’. Last Sunday, the 18 students who made up this musical ensemble, performed to a packed house at the Salvation Army Citadel as part of the Vox Harmony Annual Concert. How lucky we are to have such great young ambassadors for our school!

JulEYE - National Eye Health Awareness Month - Nurse Pia
This July is the nationwide JulEYE campaign to raise awareness about the importance of eye health for all Australians—especially our young learners. JulEYE is an initiative by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO),
Why Eye Health Matters
Our eyes help us read, play, explore and connect with the world. But did you know that many eye conditions can go unnoticed in children? That’s why regular eye checks are so important—even if your child doesn’t wear glasses.
Healthy Eyes Start with Healthy Habits!
Here are some simple ways to support your child’s eye health:
- Get regular eye checks – even before school age (free for children with a Medicare card)
- Wear a hat and sunglasses when the UV index is 3 or above (In Tasmania, that’s usually from September to April)
- Eat eye-friendly foods like carrots, leafy greens and fish, rich in vitamins A, C, and E, as well as omega-3 fatty acids,
- Stay hydrated to prevent dry eyes- aim for 8 glasses of water a day
- Limit screen time and take regular breaks
- Play outside and enjoy natural light
Concerned About Your Child’s Vision?
If you have any concerns about your child’s eyesight, please speak with their teacher. They can provide you with a referral form to sign, allowing the School Health Nurse to carry out a vision screening right here at school.
Alternatively, you’re welcome to book an appointment directly with your local optometrist for a full eye examination.
Let’s all take care of our eyes this JulEYE!
