The 2025 School Satisfaction Survey is here!
We want to hear from you, as input from families is very important to help us inform our school-planning and decision-making. Every year the Department for Education, Children and Young People conducts a School Satisfaction Survey to find out what your child(ren)'s school does well and where it may improve.
We would be grateful if you took part in our online survey about Mowbray Heights Primary School.
The survey is open from Monday 25 August 2025 until Friday 19 September 2025 and should take about 5 minutes to complete.
Each family should nominate one person to fill in this survey for their child(ren).
Take the online survey by clicking this Link, or pasting it in your browser: https://nam.dcv.ms/J9SjAQl0Yw
The survey is carried out on a secure website and all responses are anonymous and confidential.
All families in this school received the same survey link and no identifying information is collected. A summary of the survey results will be provided to schools. Responses from individuals or small groups will NOT be disclosed to any Department for Education, Children and Young People staff.
Please contact us if you require any assistance.
Thank you for taking the time to fill in this survey.

JackJumpers Bring Energy and Excitement to MHPS!
Last week, our school was buzzing with excitement as we welcomed the Tasmanian JackJumpers Basketball Team for a very special visit! The players brought their incredible energy, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship to share with our students in a morning full of fun and unforgettable memories.
The JackJumpers played four thrilling quarters against a selected group of talented Year 5–6 students, showcasing teamwork and skill while encouraging our students to give it their all. The fun didn’t stop there. Every year level had a chance to join in the action! Our Prep to Year 2 students jumped into a lively star jump competition, while the Year 3–4 students showed their strength in a push-up contest. To top it all off, the entire school joined in a dance-off that had everyone moving and grooving!
Every student was gifted a signed JackJumpers basketball singlet, a generous gesture that left smiles all around. Some lucky students also received spot prizes throughout the morning, adding to the joy of the day.
We are incredibly grateful to the JackJumpers for taking the time to visit and interact with our students and staff. A huge thank you goes to Community Coordinators Riley and Frances, whose efforts helped make this amazing opportunity possible.
Our students represented our school with pride, their behaviour was impeccable, and the players even commented on how polite and friendly they were. It was a day filled with laughter, teamwork, and inspiration, and one we’ll remember for a long time.
Go JackJumpers!

The wellbeing of all students at MHPS is important to us. When students feel safe, supported and connected, they are more likely to engage positively in their learning.
Students in Year 4 - 12 will be taking part in the DECYP Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey. The survey will help DECYP and individual schools to gain a clearer understanding of our students' current wellbeing, as well as identify opportunities to enhance the support we provide.
The survey gives students in Years 4 to 12 an opportunity to share their thoughts on their wellbeing and engagement with school. The more students who participate, the clearer our understanding will be of how they're feeling and what support they may need.
Students will be asked about a range of topics under the six Wellbeing domains: Healthy, Valued, Loved and Safe, Material Basics, Learning, Participating, and Positive Sense of Identity and Culture.
The details for the survey are:
When: The week beginning 25 August, 2025
Who: Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 students
What do I need to do?: You and your child don’t need to do anything. The survey will be done in class time and will not require your child to prepare in any way. All responses are confidential and individual students cannot be identified in the results. Participation is voluntary.
A letter with more information has been sent home with all Year 4, 5 and 6 students, including Answers for Parents, and a form to sign and return to the school if you do not want your child to participate in the survey.
Thank you for supporting us to ensure that all our learners are known, safe, well and learning.
New On-line Communication Platform - EdSmart
Dear Parents and Carers,
Mowbray Heights Primary School is switching to using digital communications through EdSmart. EdSmart is a secure online platform used by schools across Australia. DECYP schools are currently using it for Broadcast messages and student absence notifications.
How it works:
- For a Broadcast message, you will receive an SMS or an email. These messages are general notices and do not need to be replied to.
- For Parent Slips, you will receive an SMS or email notification with a link to click. This opens to a secure web page where you can complete the form.
- Any data you submit in the forms is stored safely with EdSmart and is only visible to authorised school staff.
From 1 September Mowbray Heights Primary School will begin using EdSmart for student absence notifications. An Absence Notification slip will be sent to the primary parent or carer contact, asking for a response in relation to why the student is absent.
We appreciate your support with this new communication method. If you have any questions or encounter any issues, please don't hesitate to contact our Admin Team.
Term 3 Communicating Learning Progress with Families
At MHPS, families are valued members of the school community and play an important role in their child’s learning. There is a strong culture of mutual trust, and parents/carers and staff work in partnership to support student learning and well-being. This is evidenced by the outstanding attendance data at our previous two communication opportunities, in March we had 97% of our students represented and in June we had 96% of our students represented.
Communicating Learning Progress with Families for all students from Kindergarten to Year 6 will take place again, in September. This is our third opportunity to formally communicate about learning this year and once again we are providing two options for communication in Term 3.
Parents/carers can choose either a face-to-face conversation at school or a phone call from your child's teacher.
The conversation will focus on any follow-up matters from the June meeting, evidence of learning, progress and strategies for improvement, and your child’s wellbeing.
Students are not required to be part of this meeting. Childcare will be available for school aged students in the PAC.
Last week we sent home a letter containing the details you need to know, a preference sheet for dates and times, and an agenda where you can record anything you would like to discuss. Please return the preference sheet and agenda to class teachers as soon as possible.
Ditto's Keep Safe Adventure Show
On Wednesday 10 September, all Kindergarten, Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students will have the opportunity to experience Braveheart's personal safety education program - Ditto's Keep Safe Adventure Show. The show is age appropriate and will provide students with personal safety tools and strategies, while supporting positive self-esteem and resilience building.
