At Mowbray Heights we use a range of school based assessments to guide the teaching and learning program in our school. We also have a range of external assessments which contribute to our school based data.
Recently we received a summary of our 2025 NAPLAN results and whilst we acknowledge that this is just one piece of data about student performance, we are once again extremely pleased with our overall results.
In all areas (Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation, and Numeracy) in both Year 3 and Year 5, our results are well above similar schools with regard to the mean scores and the percentage of students categorised as strong or exceeding. This is an outstanding result!
Year 3 Mean scores are above Similar Schools in all domains
Reading +27, Writing +38, Spelling +37, Grammar & Punctuation +55, Numeracy +4
Year 5 Mean scores are above Similar Schools in all domains
Reading +43, Writing +47, Spelling +62, Grammar & Punctuation +66, Numeracy +45
At this stage we have not been provided with data that enables us to compare our mean score with Tasmanian or Australian averages. As soon as those data sets become available, I will share the comparisons with our school community.
The NAPLAN 2025 Individual Student Reports will be sent home to families today. Please be aware that this assessment was conducted in March, however if families have any questions regarding your child’s assessment do not hesitate to contact your child’s classroom teacher.
A consistent plan for improvement, explicit teaching, high expectations for learning and your support from home, have significantly contributed to these learning outcomes for the students at Mowbray Heights Primary School.
Together, we can justifiably celebrate this work.

MHPS is a Nut Aware school. We allow nuts but discourage students bringing them to school. However, lots of products contain nuts or traces of nuts, so our emphasis is on preventing cross-contamination through proper food handling, washing hands, not sharing food and being aware of student allergies.
The following sizes are available in the 2025 Year 6 Short Sleeve Leavers Polos. The tops are $40.00 and can be purchased at the school office. These are the last sizes available and no further orders will be placed.
