Fissure Sealant and Fluoride Varnish Program
Oral Health Services Tasmania (OHST) are returning to our school to deliver the Fissure Sealant and Fluoride Varnish Program. The program has begun and will finish on Tuesday 20 May. This is a free service. The program is a great success in not only identifying children who may be at high risk of dental decay, but also in providing a preventative service which will in the future assist to reduce and prevent dental decay for those children who were treated.
OHST are focusing the program on children in Kindergarten, Prep, and Years 1, 2, 6 and 7. The treatments provided will be non-invasive and involve the placement of fissure sealants and the application of fluoride varnish. Any children identified as requiring further treatment will be offered an appointment at their nearest community dental clinic.
Registration packs have been sent home with Kindergarten, Prep, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 6 students. Completed registration forms are to be returned to school as soon as possible.
